    Abstract:

Introduction: Nurse plays an important and fundamental role in patient care and health. The health of nurses is at greater risk than other people in society for several reasons. One of the most important causes of tension and stress in nurses, which is less discussed, is the conflict between work and family life, which can have a significant impact on the performance and health of nurses.

Aim: The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between general health and work-family conflict in nurses.

Materials and methods: In this descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study of 374 working nurses. In eight therapeutic educational centers of Rasht city, they were selected in a stratified random manner and were examined using a three-part tool including: personal and occupational information questionnaire, Goldberg General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) and Carlson's Work-Family Conflict Questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical tests (Spearman, Mann-Whitney U, and multiple logistic regression) in SPSS (17) version.

Results: The results of this study showed that 111 people (29.7%) of the research units are healthy and 263 people (70.3%) have the possibility of health disorders. Also, in all areas of work-family and family-work conflict, the statistical indicators (mean, median and standard deviation) in nurses with health disorders are higher than healthy nurses (P<0.001). The multiple logistic regression model showed that by adjusting the background and intervening variables, the work-family conflict area in terms of pressure and family-work conflict in terms of time are among the areas that influence the health of nurses. Also, among the personal and occupational factors, participation Spouse (P < 0.001), organizational position (P < 0.01), job interest (P < 0.008), having a second job (P < 0.24) and taking care of elderly or disabled people in the family (P < 0.05) are among the factors related to the health of nurses. to give By informing the authorities of the results of this research, an important step can be taken to reduce the problems of nurses and increase the quality of their services.

    Statement of the problem:

Health It is the basic right of every human being and a social goal; All governments and organizations are obliged to ensure people's health (1). Health, which has physical, psychological, and social dimensions, is a necessary condition for fulfilling individual and social roles, and all people can be fully active if they feel healthy and the society considers them healthy(2). Many factors such as biological structure, lifestyle, environment, socio-economic status and gender affect health. Undoubtedly, someone who has a health disorder will be unable to take on personal, family and social obligations and requirements (3). The World Health Organization [1] definition of health also expresses the relationship between different physical, psychological, social, spiritual and physical dimensions of a person (4). Some jobs threaten a person's health more than other jobs by exposing a person to numerous and different physical, physical, psychological and social stressors (3). The health of employees, both physically and psychologically in the workplace, is one of the issues that have received a lot of attention in organizations. Several studies have shown that health has a direct relationship with internal-social factors and these factors play an important role both in health status and in causing disease(5). Work is a means of satisfying human needs, and naturally, a person who fulfills his needs by doing a certain amount of work must also focus on other aspects of his life because work does not satisfy all human needs (6).

Today, the healthcare sector is considered one of the most important areas of sustainable development in human societies due to its direct relationship with human health (7). One of the most valuable assets of healthcare organizations in any country is their human resources, in which the nurse plays an important and essential role in caring for the patient and his health(8). Nurses are important members in the health service system, whose services are needed by the human society, and they exert their influence in the health system by playing different roles(9). Nursing staff make up about 60-80% of the human resources of hospitals (9). According to 2013 statistics, 170,000 male and female nursing staff are working in the public and private sector, and 8,000 graduate nurses are added to this number every year (10).  Also, the statistics provided by the Rasht Nursing System Organization in 2013 reported the number of nurses working in the public hospitals of Rasht as 1169. Therefore, due to the large number of nurses, especially female nurses, it is obvious that they play an important and fundamental role in fulfilling the responsibility for ensuring the health of the society, because while taking care of the health and health of the society and the family, they are also responsible for their own health (12,11). After studying stressful jobs, the World Health Organization announced that out of 130 jobs surveyed, nurses ranked 27th in going to the doctor in terms of health-related problems (14). In addition, studies show the occurrence of various mental problems, especially depression and anxiety in nurses (15). Working for a long time with sick patients, playing a supporting role in relation to elderly patients and providing special care to special patients, especially, makes female nurses susceptible to various mental and psychological disorders due to their sensitive nature (16). Another issue is the physical problems of nurses that these people face due to the physical conditions of nursing work. So that back pain is the most common physical problem of more than half of the female nurses, which causes about 18% of them to leave their work or turn to other jobs. Also, sleep disorders and biological rhythms are among the problems that are found in abundance among this group (18,17).

Gustafsen [2] also studied the quality of sleep and health of women in relation to the working conditions of nurses on 160 samples and concluded that 45% of nurses had insufficient sleep 30%

digestive problems and 62% complained of back and joint pain, and 35% of them had job burnout

    (19).

Meanwhile, one of the most important causes of disruption in the health of nurses, which is less addressed, is the conflict between work and family[3] and family with work[4], which can have important effects on the performance of nurses. have

The results of studies on the impact of role conflict in work and family are contradictory. Some researchers believe that playing multiple roles is beneficial for individuals and helps them maintain their social status and feel useful (14). While others claim, the multiplicity of roles can endanger people's health (20). In general, the emergence and increase of families in which both husband and wife are employed and have income is one of the social developments of every country. This state of family life, despite benefiting from the benefits of combining roles, is facing pressure due to ignoring the traditional division of work in the family as well as accepting and fulfilling more and newer obligations. One of these pressures is the mutual conflict between work and family, which, if not managed, can have unwanted consequences on the functions of the family as well as the mental and social health of its members (21). For nurses, like other strata of the society, work and profession are considered as the most important factor in shaping social identity, a source of providing for the family and a shaper of social relations; This is the reason that today, attention to the working environment and working conditions of employees is something that is considered in order to increase the quality of work, maintain the health and hygiene of employees, as well as more and better productivity than the length of working years(16).
