    Abstract:

Attention to students' health, especially their psychosocial health, has a special place. Entering the university is considered a very sensitive phase in the life of efficient and active young forces in any country and is often associated with many changes in their social and human relations. In addition to this change, it should also be mentioned new expectations and roles that are formed in students at the same time as they enter the university. Being in such a situation is often accompanied by pressure and anxiety and affects their performance and efficiency. Students show a range of physical and psychological reactions when faced with stressful factors. This study was conducted in order to investigate psychosocial stressors and general health of students living in the dormitories of the University of Medical Sciences, Health Services of Iran in the academic year of 2016-2018. 200 dormitory students (82 boys and 118 girls) were selected by stratified random method. Information was collected through questionnaires on personal characteristics, psychosocial stressors and general health (GHQ28). The research data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and non-parametric inferential statistics methods by SPSS software. In this study, a significant correlation was found between psychosocial stressors and general health of students. In terms of general health and also in terms of psychosocial stressors, between male and female students, single and married, different levels of education and students with tenure. No significant difference was observed in the different periods of stay in the dormitory, and in terms of the ranking of stressful factors in order of personal and social factors, academic conditions had the greatest effect on the general health level of students. rtl;">research generalities

    Introduction

Health is one of the main pillars of sustainable development and its integral part for flourishing and improving the quality of life. Almost all people in different societies seek to achieve peace and relative well-being in different aspects of life in different ways. But with the increasing development of industry and technology and the consequent increase in the responsibilities of people, abnormalities, mental disorders and physical diseases are also increasing. In relation to public health, the feeling of pressure and tension is usually the starting point of mental discomfort, and its continuation causes disruption in a person's mental, social and physical actions. In normal and normal conditions, some stress, worries and psychological trauma can be ignored, but sometimes the intensity and stability of these stressful factors are so much that they even prevent a person from doing daily tasks. Stress is one of the issues that, despite the progress of science and technology, has always been with humans and humans have never been able to completely distance themselves from it. Today's man faces two opposite aspects of stress; On the one hand, it is an essential part of life that prepares a person for life, movement and progress with immediate stimulation, and on the other hand, stress is the root of many psychological, medical and social problems. The publication of more than one hundred articles and books on the study, control and management of stress and the allocation of more than three percent of the national budget of countries to deal with the effects of stress and control it show the importance of stress (Benjamin[1], translator of the prosecutor, 1377). Today, it is known that stress is related to many physical and mental diseases or plays a role in its creation, development and spread. Researchers have shown that if a person's stress increases, it can lead to cardiovascular symptoms, gastrointestinal problems, insomnia, headache, back pain, fatigue and forgetfulness, dry mouth and excessive sweating of the palms (Dalband, Farhadi, 2015).

In recent years, more attention has been paid to this matter and many researches have been conducted on the relationship between stress and the lives of different classes, especially their general health. and is often associated with many changes in their social and human relationships. In addition to this change, it should also be mentioned new expectations and roles that are formed in students at the same time as they enter the university.            Being in such a situation is often accompanied by pressure and worry and affects their performance and productivity. On the one hand, the requirement for proper and successful academic progress is to have peace and security of mind in biological, psychological and social dimensions, but on the other hand, the student life period is stressful due to the presence of several factors, and students experience many changes in their student life, especially in their dormitory life. One of the important functions of this period of people's life is to achieve independence and autonomy, which appears in the form of the ability to make independent decisions and perform life tasks without relying on others. Many of them are facing financial issues and how to manage their lives and regulate their social activities for the first time. Changing relationships with family and friends, habits of eating, sleeping and being alone also have the opposite effect on some students. It seems that the stressors of this period are also unique. The unfamiliarity of many students with the university environment upon entering the university, separation and distance from the family, lack of interest in the field of study, the requirements of the educational environment, incompatibility with other people in the living environment, and the lack of economic and welfare facilities and similar problems are among the conditions that can cause psychological problems and discomfort. The existence of such problems is the main obstacle to the emergence of students' potential abilities and talents and the flourishing of their creative ideas.

Paying attention to students' health, especially their mental and social health, has a special place. Students show a range of physical and psychological reactions when faced with stressful factors. Manifestations of stress include physical injuries, chronic lack of energy, decreased motivation, headaches, digestive problems, and sleep problems (Wayne Coleman [2], 1994). University education, especially in the fields of medical sciences due to the nature and volume of courses and internships and sometimes financial problems for some students, has shown an inverse relationship with mental health (Bramans [3], 1991). Students who are admitted to a university other than their home city, due to not living with their family and lack of personal support from them, have more problems than native students and show less adaptability in facing environmental pressure factors (Taziki, 2013). The above topics have led us to investigate the psychosocial stress factors and general health of students living in the dormitories of Iran University of Medical Sciences, Health and Medical Services. They are not safe from its bite. Stress affects various cognitive, psychological, social, and behavioral aspects, from the acquisition of information and how to process data to the motivation and attitudes, and with its own mechanisms, it analyzes the ability to move forward and the emergence of capabilities and talents, thus hindering the growth and development of a person.

Students, as the leading stratum in development, are expected to be able to play a role in the field of national development by passing their degrees and providing educational goals. Students must cope with the ever-increasing demands of the world in which they must decide on issues such as career, lifestyle, friends, family, religion, and politics, and meet the expectations of family, teachers, friends, and other groups, so they establish important emotional bonds with the environment or people other than the family and create their own value systems (Pilar [4], 1998).
