    Foreword

    I have been a native of the marginal area of ??Halil Road for several years. I remember that on every hill or height we saw a pit dug and a large number of broken bones and pottery, which sometimes had patterns on them, and it was also heard many times that a person or people dug a place and pulled out objects from the soil and took them away. Unfortunately, sometimes this was done by government employees such as foresters and hunters due to visiting different parts of the region and knowing more about the location of burials. The shards of pottery left on the edge of the dug pits are due to the ignorance of these people about the value of pottery, and they were only greedy for finding gold and silver and precious metal objects, so that sometimes they considered simple objects that were made of metals such as iron to be worthless and left them behind. I don't know, and the only answer I got from the elders was that these are graves belonging to the "Gabers" and they buried the daily life tools of the dead with them.

    During the early years of studying at the university, I came across a catalog of Jiroft civilisation, which was very interesting. Underneath these curiosities, I heard beliefs and sometimes superstitions in the form of stories and legends from the elders of the region. As a result of these observations and experiences, I cultivated the idea of ??further research on rooting the motifs of these works in the native legends of the region in my mind until an opportunity arose to deal with this category with more seriousness in the master's thesis project in the field of illustration. And in other searches, we come across similar reports to introduce this area of ??civilization. And several theses have been written in different universities of the country, each of which has followed a brief and limited topic in line with formal reading of the works. What follows in this process is to find the roots and prove the compatibility or non-compatibility of the elements and references in the local legends of the region with the illustrated motifs on the existing works discovered from the newly discovered civilization of Halilrud region. Since this process was followed in the form of field research, it carries more difficulties than other research approaches. Several trips were made during the project; Traveling by motorcycle on sandy and rocky roads to various villages in the region for eleven days and nights in a row, accepting all possible risks, was one of the primary measures. I have dealt with many people, especially old people, in searching for and recording native legends, and justifying these people to the description of what I was looking for was a very difficult and sometimes desperate task. Fortunately, I went through the stages and received a not very acceptable result in collecting legends. Here, I feel it necessary to express my utmost gratitude to the patient people of the Helirud border areas who helped me in this matter, and especially to the cultural and polite people of remote cities such as Anbarabad and Rudbar. The Jiroft city museum did not provide any images of the works in that museum in the form of archives, or other places did not allow me to take photos. However, I hope that what I have written before my audience will be fruitful and that he will ignore the shortcomings and shortcomings and forgive us. Nikanpour, the supervisor of the practical part of the thesis, who has always been a friend and companion with all his patience and whose useful comments have been a guide for the advancement of the research and the completion of the project.

    Abstract

    Since not much time has passed since the discovery of the new Halilrud (Jiroft) civilization, not many fundamental and comprehensive researches have been carried out in this regard. The issue of research on legends and mythological beliefs of the region is new.And as a result, rooting motifs on works found in this area in native beliefs, rituals and legends is a subject that has not been researched so far.

    The purpose of research in this field, in addition to discovering the relationship between two fixed categories (images carved on works) and fluid (linguistic and verbal monuments), is to introduce more of this civilization and its works to art students, as well as to use their motifs to illustrate common local stories.

    It seems that the beliefs that created these images have continued to exist in various ways, including local literature and rituals and beliefs. And it also seems that the exposed images from this area have acquired their identity from the perspective of native biogeography and this perspective has not changed much. Field research has been done in the research area to collect and record current legends and customs, as well as museum and library studies. First, since the oldest existing recorded texts are related to Zoroastrian religion, the root investigation of oral beliefs and legends has been done mostly by referring to such texts. Second, the number of works available from this civilization is limited, and the hypothetical proof of the compatibility of the two mentioned categories requires the presence of all the images and motifs, which, considering the present quantity, we have achieved significant results. Then surely, ancient legends and beliefs of past myths have undergone many changes in the course of several thousand years of history and now they have reached us in the form of scattered and integrated customs and stories.

Chapter 1: Research issues and assumptions Statement of the problem: The innovative works of the Jiroft civilization (Halilrud border) that have surprised the world are important from various aspects. According to some written and archeological sources, these works have a very long history, and the studies conducted on these works have led researchers to believe that the history of the formation of these works is older than the first civilization of the world, "Mesopotamia", and even put forward the hypothesis that the formation of the first civilization of the world was also in this region. Undoubtedly, a nation with such inclusions of civilization and art must also own handwriting and written works. But so far only two lines of their writings have reached us. These two lines have not been reread until now, and even if they are reread, they are not enough to understand the culture and mythology of the civilization of this area, which is referred to as "Erata" civilization in some places. Therefore, the surviving images are currently the most valuable evidence. These images, on which the foundation of our current knowledge is based, are very important, and by analyzing them, we may be able to find a way to penetrate the depth of this great and amazing civilization. In any opinion, the existing works and the images engraved on them are evidence and evidence of the existence of a society with a rich culture and written policy. This society has cultivated an art that cannot be ignored in any way. The evolution process of this art has definitely traveled a long way to reach such a presentation. Tracing this historical course and searching for the starting point of the emergence of such civilizations is the responsibility of archeology and is not included in this field. As the investigation of the cultural roots and fundamentals of an ancient society requires extensive research and deep studies in line with history, the civilization of Halilrud has not benefited from such an all-round investigation until now due to its novelty. What is included in the studies around the axis of this civilization is a very limited number of books and most of the reports and articles that have been published in various magazines. In some of these articles, the relationship between this civilization and the Mesopotamian civilization has been examined, and there has not been a search for this relationship with the Indian civilization, which seems to have been more important due to its geographic, racial and cultural proximity. But what seems to be unsolved is the issue of continuity of cultural identity between the ancient inhabitants of Halilrud area (3rd millennium BC) and the current inhabitants of this region, and the search for this connection has led us to the literature (legends and stories) and other cultural signs among the native people of the region and the images engraved on the works left by the ancient inhabitants of the region.
