in the field of executive management

    Abstract:

Introduction: Hospital information system is one of the effective factors in the knowledge management of health care and medical organizations, this research was conducted with the aim of determining the impact of the use of hospital information system on the management of managers' knowledge in teaching-treatment hospitals of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences. Research method: This is a descriptive applied research. It is analytical, the studied population included 106 high, middle and operational managers in educational-therapeutic hospitals of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, and the data collection tool was a questionnaire whose validity and reliability were checked and confirmed. Descriptive and inferential data analysis has been done in SPSS version 16 software.

Findings: After analyzing and analyzing the data in financial, clinical, and human resources criteria, it was found that the information system was significant in both financial (and clinical) components, but the human resources component was not significant. It is recommended to investigate the reasons for not paying attention to these two things in hospitals regarding the knowledge management of managers in human resources and also the lower impact on clinical standards.

Key words: hospital information system. Management. Knowledge management.

    Introduction:

The increasing growth of communication, telecommunication, and informatics industries is confronting the world with a new revolution every day. The revolution of information technology has left significant effects in all economic, social, political and security sectors of the country. Today, management information systems have increased the quality of decision-making and reduced the risks of making wrong decisions by creating accurate, fast and extensive communication between the organization's components. Hospitals, due to the type of services, the surrounding environment, their structure, and their customers, need to be up-to-date and speedy in transferring information to make their management decisions (21).

Hospital Information System (HIS) [1] is a comprehensive software for integrating patient information to send and exchange comprehensive patient information between departments and other medical centers in order to accelerate the process of patient care and treatment, improve quality, increase satisfaction and reduce costs (21). Therefore, we need a comprehensive information system in management, because the entire management process relies on obtaining appropriate and accurate information. By providing information and patient records to service providers, the hospital information system not only improves decision-making in healthcare measures, but also plays a significant and effective role in the development of organizational performance (22).

The role of the hospital information system in improving the performance of hospital management and their medical staff is a proven and undeniable role, and most scientists and management scholars recommend its use without hesitation, and managers also believe that it is inevitable to use it to create transformation in hospitals. are (23).

Another topic that has been examined in this research is knowledge management. Knowledge is the first strategic resource for companies in the 21st century. Knowledge management is a process that helps organizations in identifying, selecting, organizing, publishing and transferring important information and skills that are part of the organization's history and generally exist in an unstructured form in the organization. With the help of knowledge management, the concepts and methods are clear, the challenges are clear and can be overcome, the resources are clear and can be significant (24).

Knowledge management is not a new thing, human civilizations used to maintain and transfer knowledge from one generation to another, to understand the past and predict the future. In today's complex and dynamic business environments, the thirst for knowledge finds a wider scope and role day by day. The knowledge that is changing drastically and spreading outside the organizations. Information technology and the Internet have also created new challenges in creating and maintaining knowledge management (26). Therefore, the production of information and knowledge is of particular importance for the decision-making of managers at the level of hospitals and universities of medical sciences, and this role is the responsibility of the hospital information system.

In this chapter, the description of the topic and the research context, the questions that the researcher is looking for answers to, the goals and background of the research, the research reserves, the applications and benefits of the research, the method of conducting the research, the data collection tools, the statistical population, the temporal and spatial scope of the research will be stated. At the end, the overall structure of the thesis will be presented.

1-1 The description of the research topic and its supporting logic:

Today, the technology of convenience is used to facilitate doing things and gain competitive advantage and reduce costs in various organizations. Organizations that operate in the field of health and treatment services are not excluded from this. The hospital is the most well-known organization providing this new service that plays an important role in maintaining and improving the health of citizens. (1)

Hospital information system is one of the most widespread type of information system used in the hospital environment. This definition encompasses various general studies. But in general, the hospital's information system is designed to manage administrative, financial, and technical activities in the hospital.

Hospitals depend on information to make changes in services and financial affairs. In the last decade, there have been fundamental changes in the payment methods, competition, service delivery technology and population statistics, which have made the health care centers unsustainable. The progress made in information technology and the speed of changes in organizational environments have created the first challenge for executive managers.

In response to this challenge, the field of health care information has also been developed, emphasizing the use of technologies that support patient care decisions by service providers. This emphasis in informing clinical services is also evident in the training of hospital management (2).

Hospital information system provides this capability for hospital managers who can access the necessary measures for decision-making at any time and place and make decisions based on the real information of their work environment. Management decision-making based on real measures leads to increase in efficiency and development in performance and ultimately causes the efficiency and effectiveness of the hospital(26).

Rapid and stunning advances in information technology occur one after the other, and information technology [2] (IT) is one of the issues affecting organizational knowledge management(27). Information technology can act as a powerful tool and provide effective and efficient tools for all aspects of knowledge management, including the capture, sharing and application of knowledge.

Information technology itself is not the heart of knowledge management and no project becomes a knowledge management project just because of the use of the latest information technologies.

Information technology only plays a supporting role in knowledge management. determine whether the information is appropriate and related to their specific needs or not. In order to transform information into knowledge, people must interpret, analyze and understand the information and put it in the text (3).

On the other hand, problems and trends among hospital managers such as calls to replace computer files instead of hand files, increasing the volume of data in hospitals, the tendency to use an integrated information system instead of intra-departmental systems, the addition of patients and service recipients as users on the hospital information system line along with managers and service providers, the use of hospital information system information for patient care. And the management purposes and its use for planning in clinical and epidemiological research are all justifications for the creation and development of the hospital information system in hospitals (4).

Production of information and knowledge is of particular importance for the decision-making of managers at the level of hospitals, and this part of the hospital is the responsibility of the hospital information system. The use of this system in hospitals has been estimated. In this research, an attempt has been made to investigate the effect of using this hospital information system in the knowledge-based management of hospital managers.
