    Abstract

    Abstract:

The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between marital incompatibility with behavioral problems and academic progress of students. The research method is a description of the type of correlation and the statistical population of male students referred by the academic advisor of Rafsanjan high schools in the academic year of 2011-2019 to the education counseling center, which consists of 200 people, and 140 people were selected using the simple random sampling method based on the sample table of Morgan and Karjesi. Data collection tools, Aschenbach Behavioral Problems Questionnaire (1991), Spanier Marital Compatibility Questionnaire (1976) and students' academic progress were obtained through the average grades of the first and second semesters. Data analysis was analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and regression analysis. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between marital incompatibility with behavioral problems (p 0.01) and a significant negative relationship between marital incompatibility and students' academic progress (p 0.01). In addition, regression analysis showed that marital incompatibility can predict behavioral problems and academic progress of students. According to this present research, it showed that there is a relationship between marital incompatibility with the academic progress of students.

    Introduction

The family is the first founder of personality and intellectual values, which plays an important role in determining the destiny, style and policy of a person's future life. A person's morals and mental health depend on it to a large extent (Ahadi and Bani Jamal, 2015). Couples are one of the main pillars of the family social system, which is different in many aspects such as duration, intensity, satisfaction, conflict and type of functioning. Family is the place where we experience the most love or hate, or enjoy the deepest satisfactions in the family and suffer the deepest pains in the family. A child who is born has the most perfect and excellent growth facilities, but he has the capacity to be brought up in the best way and find the best perfections. It is enough for him to be born healthy and to have a suitable family and environment at his disposal. One of the basic aspects of the family is the parents' relationship with each other. Conflicts and conflicts between couples in the family inevitably affect the children. Spouses' incorrect relationships with each other and children increase the risk of children's behavioral problems (Peterson [1], 1994). In order to get closer to the goals of the educational system, it is necessary to know the factors affecting academic failure and reduce its effects. One of the most important factors is the characteristics of the family and the relationships of couples in this system, which is considered the center of education.  And this research aims to investigate the relationship between marital incompatibility[2] with behavioral problems[3] and the educational progress of adolescents. In marriage, a man and a woman are attracted to each other through a secret force caused by instincts, rituals, and love, and freely and completely submit (commit) to each other to create a dynamic unit as a family (Sadeghi, 2010). Marriage is a sacred, clean environment and according to the Quranic interpretation, it is a place of peace and tranquility. More important than marriage is marital compatibility. Marital compatibility is a situation in which the husband and wife feel happy and satisfied with each other most of the time. Marital compatibility and marital incompatibility are created through mutual interest or lack of interest, mutual acceptance or non-acceptance, mutual understanding or lack of mutual understanding and satisfaction of needs or indifference towards each other (Attari, 2014). The scientific study of marital compatibility has been given great attention since the 1990s. In fact, marital compatibility provides a general assessment of the current state of the relationship. Marital satisfaction and compatibility is one of the broadest concepts to determine and show the level of happiness and stability of relationships.Marital compatibility is a process that occurs during the life of a couple because it requires the adaptation of tastes, recognition of personality traits, the creation of behavioral rules and the formation of communication patterns. Compatible couples are husbands and wives who have a lot of agreement with each other, are satisfied with the level of their relationship, and are also satisfied with the type and quality of spending leisure time and plan their time and financial issues well, while incompatible couples suffer from lack of agreement with each other, and the relationship between them is cold and soulless, which unconsciously causes problems in the planning and progress of life. Studies have shown that marital compatibility and incompatibility affects many aspects of the individual and social life of humans and directly or indirectly affects the functioning of the family and the relationships of children with each other, parents and society and causes compatibility and incompatibility in children (Rezazadeh, 1387).

There are different opinions in the field of the effects of the family environment on the development of children's personality. Some theorists believe that a child is a product dependent on the family environment and that the family's emotional atmosphere can determine the children's characteristics (Yasaei, 2014). On the other hand, some others believe that, although the family environment is effective in the cognitive aspects of children, it is not considered as the only factor, and hereditary factors play a more effective role in this field (Ebbs [4] and Polyman [5], 1997).

Based on the theory of Levin [6] (1936), a person and his environment simultaneously affect the life space and are dependent on each other in terms of the nature and function of each. For this reason, the child's cognitive development and academic progress and his social performance are in constant continuity with his family environment. This means that the relationship between parents and its pleasant and unpleasant consequences interact with the child's progress in school and society, and the individual characteristics of the parents and especially the mother will have noticeable effects on this interaction (Nilchian, 2018, Feldman[7] and Netzel[8], 1995).

Many factors including mutual respect, compatibility of the couple's beliefs, age of marriage, duration of cohabitation, relatives and acquaintances, religious beliefs, number and health status. Children are effective in marital satisfaction and dissatisfaction (Fatehizadeh, Ahmadi, 2013).

In recent years, the feeling of security, peace and intimate relationships between men and women have weakened and the family center has undergone unpleasant processes (Sotoudeh, 2014). Trenhelm and Jansen [9] (1996), consider marital communication as a process in which husband and wife exchange feelings and thoughts with each other verbally and non-verbally, such as listening, facial expressions, and various gestures. Satisfaction with married life has a major contribution to the continuity of life and education of the next generation (quoted by Fatehizadeh and Ahmadi, 2004). Ellis [10] (1992), considers marital satisfaction to be derived from feelings related to the satisfaction, satisfaction, and pleasure experienced by the husband or wife. Ellis considers the role of thinking in marital satisfaction to be important and ignores the interests and way of thinking of the other party as a cause of discouragement and failure in marital relationships. Research shows that communication style has a great impact on the successful resolution of marital conflicts. There is a positive and strong relationship between social adjustment and marital adjustment. In addition, the harmony of values ??has a positive relationship with the level of marital satisfaction of couples. Couples who easily share their thoughts and feelings with each other and are able to accept and understand each other's feelings have more marital satisfaction. Husbands and wives who have the ability to communicate properly have more satisfying marital relationships. Many researches have shown that the negative interaction between husband and wife is a strong predictor variable in creating a negative attitude and the occurrence of divorce or separation or behavioral problems of family members, and communication and marital skills training is effective for obtaining marital satisfaction (Rahnama 2011, Mahdovian 2015, Soleimian 2016, Zulfiqarpour et al., 2013). Consolidation of marital relations and compatibility play an important role in marriage. Zamani Mondef (1376), believes that personality and psychological factors as well as social factors are important and effective factors in the occurrence of marital dissatisfaction.

Behavioral problems in children and adolescents appear in the form of different behaviors that many factors play a role in creating. The most important of them are biological, environmental, social, cultural, and family factors
