    Abstract

In the not-so-distant past, when the boundaries of cities were defined by gates, the entrances to the city had a high spatial quality and were considered among the key elements and prominent features of every city. intensify In the definition of the entrance to the city, it can be said that the entrance axis is a spatial corridor that, in addition to the activity and population characteristics of the route, establishes a logical connection between nature and the city in an organized and systematic hierarchy. What we are dealing with today as an input has, more than anything, caused people's behavioral system to collapse and behavioral abnormalities to appear. In the sense that neglecting the design of this space as an interface has caused people to enter the spaces all at once, so that there is no opportunity to change and adapt their behavior to the new space. This incompatibility of behavior with the new environment has a negative effect on the environment and manifests itself as an abnormality. According to the definitions that were mentioned, the entrance of Masal city and most of the cities of Iran have such an abnormal situation that it does not evoke any feeling of arrival with enthusiasm in the traveler and does not create an image in the person's mind in accordance with his expectations of the entrance of a city.

The present research was carried out under the title of spatial analysis of the entrance of Masal city and its statistical community is the east to west entrance of this city. It is the city of Masal, and on this basis, it has been done to know thematic expectations (convertibility and permeability) and case expectations (receptivity-readability, identity) of the city of Masal and also to provide solutions to determine the appropriate urban entrance in the city of Masal. In this research, descriptive and analytical methods and field observations based on reasoning and statistics have been used to reach the final result.  Data analysis is done in two quantitative and qualitative ways. Part of the information is analyzed by inductive reasoning method and another part of the information is analyzed by using inferential statistics.

    Introduction

In the old cities of Iran, the entrance was especially important in the city as a whole. In today's cities, the concept of the entrance has lost its desired physical objectivity and is not given much attention in official urban planning and designs. Most of the current cities in Iran are characterized by unpleasant spatial quality and physical irregularity, as well as mainly workshop functions, which cause visual disturbance and leave an unfavorable objective image and mental landscape in the process of the perception of the city and its overall perception. Important nodes, besides the reception of those who come to the city, are the places where many people pass and the appearance of that city is imprinted in their minds with a general perception of this space. The existing uses at the entrance of cities in most cases assume the role of out-of-town caravanserais, and some are used for rejuvenation, rest, vehicle service, etc. . . They have a temporary stop in these places. The entrance is a place where the psychological transition from the outside to the inside is possible. The entrance of a city includes an area that enables the connection of two natural and artificial areas, and because it also includes people outside the city. Therefore, the mental image of the general public and not only the citizens should be considered in its design. According to the proposed problem, this thesis seeks to answer the following questions: 1-Does the entrance of Masal city comply with the subject expectations of the city entrance (convertibility and permeability)? It has been done:

Chapter One: In this chapter, there are discussions about the research plan, including the statement of the problem, research method, research objectives, research questions and hypotheses. . .

In the second chapter: to the theoretical foundations of the research, which include definitions, basic concepts, views and theories, the history of the entrance to the city, the investigation of factors affecting the design of the entrance, thematic and case expectations of the entrance, etc. . . . . . . has been paid

In the third chapter: to examine the geographical characteristics of the studied area, including natural, human, economic and physical characteristics.

In the third chapter: The geographical features of the study area including natural, human, economic and physical characteristics have been investigated.

In the fourth chapter: The findings of the research, which include the examination of the east-west entrance of Masal city in terms of convertibility, permeability, acceptability, comfort, playability, readability and recognition.

    Abstract

In not far past, which cities' boundaries were determined by gates, cities entrance space have had high spatial quality and were considered as significant part and prominent feature of each city. Nowadays, due to the expansion and development of cities, cities entrance space has been converted to high speed paths for transit of motor vehicle, and its surrounding land have been dedicated to use as harmful and incompatible applications to the environment, which intensify visual disorders and turbulence of these spaces. In definition of city entrance, it can be said that entrance axis is a spatial corridor that in addition to activity based and population based characteristics of a path, will provide a reasonable relationship between nature and city, as organized and systematic hierarchy. What is currently considered as an entrance, more than anything has disturbed people's behavioral system and has caused behavioral abnormalities. This means that, lack of paying attention to design these spaces, as a connector, will cause sudden entry of people to these spaces, so that, there is no opportunity to change and adapt behavior with new environment. This incompatibility of behavior with new environment has had negative impact on it, and will reveal itself as an abnormality.

According to mentioned definitions, the entrance pace of Masal and the majority of Iranian cities are so unpleasant that don't create a sense of enthusiastically arriving among passengers, as well as there is no image according to their expectations about entrance space of city. The present research has been performed to analyze the entrance space of Masal and its statistical universe is east to west entrance of this city. Main purpose of this research is thematic and case expectations on the main entrance of Masal, which accordingly, try to identify its thematic expectations (convertibility and permeability) and case expectations (acceptability -readability, recognition), as well as try to introduce strategies to determine and develop proper entrance spaces in Masal. This research has been used descriptive-analytical methods, and field observations based reasoning and statistics to achieve the final result.  Data analysis has been carried out both through quantitative and qualitative methods.  Some part of data will be analyzed by inductive reasoning, and other parts will be analyzed by using inferential statistics.
