    1 Introduction

Life skills and problem solving are referred to as a set of abilities that provide the basis for the adaptation of positive and useful behavior. This ability enables a person to face the demands, expectations and daily problems in interpersonal relationships effectively while accepting his personal and social responsibilities, without harming himself and others, and in this way he is safe from being caught in behavioral, psychological and social harms. (Karim) Zadeh and colleagues, 1388).

During the last century, we have seen many changes in health and treatment and social relations. Certainly, we will need more changes and changes in the future. Because in the last fifty years, infectious diseases, such as polio, measles, etc., have decreased with the observance of hygiene, and the length of human life has increased. Addiction, social abnormalities have caused the collapse of the social system. The World Health Organization (1994) defines health as complete physical-psychological and social well-being, and that a person has the ability to adapt to the external environment. Darden, Gazda [1] and Ginter [2] (1996) state that life skills are necessary for an effective life and are considered in all periods of life (childhood, adolescence and adulthood), collection All of these life skills are based on effective growth in the four dimensions of family, educational, professional and social life, which are used for prevention and corrective treatment, and are based on a theoretical structure that has the general goals of counseling and mental health (cited by Pickelsimer [3], Hooper [4] et al., 1998).

The components of life skills include self-management skills and social skills. Individual self-management skills include the ability to make decisions and solve problems, awareness of social influences and resistance to them, dealing with anxiety, anger and failure, and determining the goal of self-leadership and self-reinforcement. Social skills are also a part of life skills that include social communication, verbal and non-verbal boldness skills, respect and increasing the social competence of children, teenagers and young adults. (Botvin [5], Kantor [6], 2000).

The skill of problem solving is one of the basic skills of life that allows us to solve our problems with specific planning.

The most important benefit of learning problem solving is that it helps a person to search for multiple solutions when facing problems. He examines them and chooses the best solution after analysis. People's problems mainly include problems. personal, daily affairs, educational-occupational-social, relationship with

friends-family, work environment and other situations that fit life and fulfill social roles, a person is bound to face them. Effectively deal with the challenges and demands of daily life. Life skills refer to personal and social skills that children and teenagers must learn in order to be able to behave competently, effectively and confidently with themselves, other people and the whole society (McTavish [7], 2000). He solves the problem and supervises it (Elliott et al. [8], 1999).

Adolescence is one of the most important stages of life. Children and adolescents are the assets of the society and the health of their soul and body guarantees the health of the future society. Special complications and difficulties accompany the life of adolescents, such as social and family transformations, the occurrence of dangerous diseases, competition, exam stress, and the like. Alone, it can put pressure and mental tension on them and put their health at risk and bring irreparable damage. Many teenagers do not have the necessary ability to deal with problems and challenges and are exposed to many injuries and behavioral abnormalities. Based on this, awareness and awareness of problem solving skills and life skills have an effect on various aspects of students' behavior and personality. According to what has been said, the present research examines the role of problem solving and life skills in mental health.

    1-2 problem statement

Problem solving skill is a logical and orderly thinking process that helps a person to search for multiple solutions when facing problems and then choose the best solution. When people use problem solving skills to solve interpersonal and social problems, it is called problem solving skills (Nuri Qasimabadi, 1377).

Today, many researchers They believe that coping skills such as the ability to solve problems, foresight, and making logical and correct evaluations help people to successfully deal with problems. But unfortunately, many people have not acquired the necessary skills in facing life's problems and are vulnerable when faced with everyday problems.

The age group is at risk for behavioral and social abnormalities of teenagers, because they are at a point where identity crisis, maturity, youthful pride, tendency to There is rebelliousness and independence. Therefore, improving the level of awareness and behavior and subsequently the performance of these groups can play an important role in preventing these problems and expanding mental health (Najafi et al. 2011). Researches have shown that many emotional-psychological problems have psycho-social roots and if people have such adaptability, they will be able to interact with other members of society, culture and their environment. act cheerfully and ensure their mental health at an optimal level. (Herman [9] et al., 2008, Mardani [10] et al., 2011).

Life and problem-solving skills are a set of abilities that provide the basis for adapting positive and useful behavior. to face daily expectations and problems in interpersonal relationships and in this way be safe from being caught in behavioral, psychological and social harms. (Karimzadeh et al., 2008).

Humans need to adapt to different situations and stressors, they need functions that are very basic. Functions such as cognitions, emotions and behaviors that come in the form of structures such as self-esteem, self-efficacy, self-understanding and social skills.

In general, life skills are a comprehensive (extensive) behavior and in fact, it is an approach that affects the skills that a person needs for life, such as communication, decision-making, thinking power, a sense of management, the ability to oppose the pressure of others, self-esteem and communication skills. From UNESCO's point of view, these programs can be examined in the form of ten skills: 1-Self-awareness 2-Empathy 3-Establishing an effective relationship (social relations) 4-adaptive interpersonal relations (interpersonal relations) 5-decision-making 6-problem solving 7-critical thinking 8-creative thinking 9-dealing with emotion 10-dealing with stress (Nikpour, 2013).

The concept of mental health is actually an aspect of the concept of overall health. The World Health Organization defines health as follows: a state of complete physical, mental, social, and spiritual health and not just the absence of disease or disability. in which a person realizes his own abilities, copes with the usual stress of life, works productively and contributes to the society (Berry [11] and Jenkins [12], 2007 quoted by Ghasemi, Delavar and Karimi Zarchi 2013).

Mental health is one of the most important needs of today's human, for which it is necessary to know oneself, understand others and create effective relationships with them. to identify his daily negatives and tensions and to bring them under control and to solve his problems in an effective way. To meet these needs, it is necessary to master life skills (Homan [13] et al. 2013). Good communication, goal setting, decision-making, problem solving, and identification of individual values ??play an effective role in preventing or reducing the incidence of behavioral abnormalities and psychological disorders in adolescents and increasing their mental health. The lack of these skills causes a person to turn to ineffective and incompatible behaviors in the face of pressure and stress (Tarmian et al., 2018).

According to what has been described In the present study, we are looking to predict mental health using problem solving and life skills questionnaires so that we can answer the research questions.
