Chapter 1
Introduction and overview of the research
1-1 Introduction
What we discuss in this chapter is a general statement of the research. By mentioning the topic of the research, the problem is defined and stated, and with a brief reference to the necessity and importance of the research, we express our main goals of dealing with such a topic.
In the following, according to our goals in this research, the questions, the temporal and spatial scope of the research, and the research method are mentioned. Also, in order for our dear readers to have the same understanding of the issues raised, we defined the key words in this chapter. Of course, in the next chapter, we will explain these concepts in a more complete and detailed manner along with other concepts.
At the end of this chapter, we will express some of the problems and limitations that we encountered during the work, especially the field work.
2-1 Research topic
The research topic is: "Investigation of the key success factors of knowledge management in research organizations (a case study in one of the defense research organizations)"
3-1 Definition and statement of the problem
The current era is the era of changes. In order to be able to respond to challenges and turn threats into opportunities in the current changing and chaotic environment, organizations need creativity and innovation on the one hand, and on the other hand, knowledge and intellectual capital are the main and key sources for the realization of creativity and innovation. This has caused the movement of human society towards a "knowledge-based society" to accelerate to such an extent that all aspects of human development today are decorated with the attribute "knowledge-based". Peter Drucker, as the father of management science, confirms this and introduces knowledge as the basis of competition in the post-industrial society. Meanwhile, knowledge organizations such as research organizations need to help create innovation in this turbulent environment by using knowledge management tools. In order to achieve this goal, such organizations are faced with a multitude of knowledge management issues that they should pay attention to and research on. Among these topics is "Identifying the key success factors of knowledge management". This article, using the literature of "knowledge management" and "research organizations" as well as the research activities carried out in recent years, tries to help them in recognizing and analyzing the above issues as well as the development of knowledge management in various organizational fields by recognizing the main characteristics of research organizations and introducing the key factors affecting the success of knowledge management in such organizations.
4-1 Importance And the necessity of conducting research
In recent years, organizational knowledge management has become one of the important concerns of managers. To face a knowledge-based economy and participate in knowledge-based competitions, every organization must be able to maintain its types of knowledge and maximize its strategic values.
Achieving people's hidden knowledge has obstacles such as:
Unfamiliarity with the elements and areas of people's tacit knowledge
Unfamiliarity with cultural, technical and organizational barriers to acquiring organizational knowledge based on the production, acquisition, enrichment and recovery of knowledge
Insufficient knowledge of techniques and methods of converting tacit knowledge into explicit organizational knowledge
Insufficient knowledge of how to organize tacit knowledge in advancing and improving the quality of activities Organizational
Also, the implementation of knowledge management creates many challenges for the organization (Davenport[1], 1998), it requires a large amount of organizational resources, various techniques and tools related to them, and it also requires spending a lot of time to achieve success. The strategic planning of knowledge management is necessary for the successful design and implementation of knowledge management and its systems. The author's employment in this field and the understanding of the importance of knowledge in it and the knowledge-based activity of employees created the necessary motivation to conduct this research. 5-1 Research Objectives This research pursues the following objectives: Identifying the factors affecting the successful establishment of the knowledge management system in defense research organizations Prioritizing the factors affecting Successful establishment of knowledge management system in defense research organizations. Explanation of requirements for successful establishment of knowledge management system in defense research organizations. 6-1 Research questions. In general, the most important research questions are as follows: Does defense research?

Research and development: The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development [4] defines research and development as creative work that is done on a systematic basis, so that the scientific and technical knowledge resulting from it can be exploited in order to invent new applications. 8-1 Research Methodology The method of conducting this research is a descriptive survey and it started from library studies and then by interviewing experts and preparing and distributing multiple questionnaires among them in several stages and finally with their analysis and conclusions, the research is finished. 9-1 Scope of the research The thematic, temporal, spatial and organizational scope of the research is as follows: Thematic scope: This research is in the field of knowledge management.
Time field: This research was conducted between 1389 and 1390.
Spatial-organizational field: This research was conducted in one of the defense research organizations based in Tehran.
10-1 research limitations
In this research, we encountered some limitations which are as follows:
The low level of knowledge of the researchers of the research organization Regarding knowledge management
The researchers of the said research organization are not familiar with the research philosophy of humanities and social sciences
Difficulty in reaching the senior managers of the research organization
The requirement to observe security-protection considerations in the process of interviews, distribution and collection of questionnaires

Research Literature
Part One
Research Organizations
1-1-2 Introduction
In order to be able to design, implement and implement a suitable knowledge management system for a research organization, before doing anything, we must know research organizations and deal with this matter with sufficient knowledge of the organization, its employees and other elements. Considering this importance, in this section, various definitions of research organizations, the aspects of distinguishing such organizations from other organizations and their work challenges have been discussed as follows.
